Customer FAQ: Growing for Good

What is the Growing for Good program?

Growing for Good is a community-driven program by Demeter Earth that connects local farmers, gardeners, and artisans with families and community organizations in need.
Through this initiative, participating vendors donate local food so approved customers can order eligible items for $0 with free local pickup and/or delivery (within the vendor’s service area).

How does the program work for customers?

If you’re part of a food bank, community organization, or verified household, you’ll receive a Community Code that allows you to order items from our Growing for Good collection.
Items are free ($0) and include free delivery from local vendors.

How does access work? (Two-Level Flow)

There are two ways to access the Growing for Good collection:

1. Partner Community Codes (Immediate Use)

  • Local food banks and community partners receive a shared Community Code to distribute to their verified households.
  • Households use that code at checkout to order items from the Growing for Good collection for $0 (free pickup and/or delivery).
  • To keep things fair, shared codes are usually limited to 1 order per customer.

2. Individual Codes (Ongoing Use)

  • If a household needs continued access, they can request their own individual code linked to their Demeter Earth account.
  • These codes are account-specific and can allow repeat use (settings may vary by region).

Also for Organizations/Agencies:
Food banks, pantries, and partner agencies can sign up for a customer account and request an organization-linked code for placing orders directly (for distributions, pantry restocking, or outreach events).

How do I get a Community Code?

You have options:

  1. From a partner organization: If you’re connected to a local food bank or community organization, ask if they’re an approved Growing for Good Partner. They can share a Partner Community Code for immediate use.
  2. Request your own code: If you’re not connected to a partner—or you need ongoing access—complete our quick form to request an Individual Household Code (linked to your customer account).
👉 Request a Code: Household Code Request Form
  3. Organizations & Agencies: Sign up for a customer account and request an organization-linked code here:
👉 Partner/Agency Code Request: Partner Code Request Form

Can I share my code with someone else?

No.

  • Partner Community Codes may be shared by the partner with verified households they serve, but each household should use it only for their own order.
  • Individual Household Codes and Organization Codes are account-linked and may not be shared.

Orders placed without a valid code—or with a code used outside its rules—may be cancelled to keep the program fair.

Do I have to pay for shipping or delivery?

No. All $0 items in the Growing for Good collection include free local pickup and/or delivery, depending on the vendor’s availability and service area.

Can I order from any vendor?

Yes! As long as the product is listed in the Growing for Good collection and you have a valid Community Code, you can order from any participating vendor within their local service area.

Where can I see available items?

Visit our Growing for Good Collection to browse all active donation listings.

Where do I apply my community code?

Enter your community code in the discount code section at checkout and click Apply.

What happens after I place my order?

Once your code is verified and your order is placed:

  1. The vendor may contact you directly to confirm delivery or pickup.
  2. You’ll receive updates by email from Demeter Earth when your order is fulfilled.

I placed an order but forgot to use a code—what now?

Please do not place $0 orders without a valid code. If that happens, we’ll cancel the order and direct you to:

Is there a limit to how often I can order?

Limits may apply to keep distribution fair:

  • Partner Community Codes: often 1 order per customer.
  • Individual Household Codes: allows ongoing use, linked to customer account.
Your confirmation email or partner organization will clarify limits in your area.

Do I need ID or proof of eligibility?

Basic verification happens through partners or through the household request form. We keep it simple and respectful. Any documents shared with a partner organization are not stored by Demeter Earth.

Who can I contact for help?

If you have any issues with your Community Code or an order, email support@demeterearth.com with the subject line “Growing for Good – Customer Help.”

Privacy & Fair Use

We only collect what’s needed to verify eligibility and fulfill your order. Misuse of codes or repeated violations may result in cancelled orders or restricted access so we can serve as many families as possible.
